Support stricter standards on motor-vehicle greenhouse gases
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently rejected a waiver petition from California that would have permitted the nation’s most populous state to set tougher standards for motor-vehicle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. California sought to require a 30 percent reduction in GHG emissions from new passenger vehicles by 2016. Members of Congress are considering a bill (S.2555 in the senate, and H.R. 5560 in the House) that would override the EPA’s decision.
