After several months of public debate and internal review, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced its final regulations on women’s preventive health coverage, requiring most employers to provide full contraceptive coverage (without co-pays). On December 31, President Barak Obama signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes sanctions targeting the Central Bank of Iran—widely suspected of financing Iran's nuclear program—and banks that do business with it and the United States. End the Gender Wage Gap!
This year marked nearly 50 years since the passage of the Equal Pay Act, and yet for every dollar a man earns, women with comparable education and experience make only 77 cents. Urge your legislators to co-sponsor and support the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would close loopholes in the Equal Pay Act and bar retaliation against employees who disclose their wages to coworkers.
