Director of Development (MGO) South Florida

The Director works in tandem with area volunteer leaders and major gift teams to identify prospective major donors, grow the major gifts donor and prospect base, participate in developing goals, prospect approaches and solicitation strategies for volunteers and her/himself. The Director will be responsible for the development of her/his own portfolio of major gift prospects and donors.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Liaise with Hadassah Volunteers, including: Region and Chapter Presidents, Major Gift Chairs and Campus Campaign Chairs and Major Gifts Department team members, to develop and execute an annual strategic fundraising plan, focusing on major gifts of $5,000 or more from individuals, corporations and foundations.
  • Build and manage a fundraising portfolio of a minimum of 150 high­ potential major donors and major gift prospects at the $5,000+ level.
  • Facilitate and stimulate area to implement national fundraising campaigns directed to major gift prospects, including identification, cultivation and successful solicitation following current 'moves' management process.
  • Guide region and chapter leadership in covered areas in acquiring the knowledge they may need to further major gift fund raising in their units and to promote specific gift opportunities.
  • Assist in the planning and implementing of the major gift component of fundraising events.
  • Travel within the Region as required, including some evenings and weekends, and occasional national travel.
  • Prepare and monitor budget and expenses.
  • Work with national staff to create solicitation proposals, correspondence, stewardship reports, donor profiles, and other donor-related materials.
  • Liaise with National Development and Membership and Unit Services staff and volunteers, among others as appropriate or requested.
  • Maintain effective communications with area and national volunteers and staff.
  • Track all activity in the organization's database; maintain accurate records of all donor/prospect interactions and strategies for future engagement.
  • Other duties and special projects as determined.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five to seven years of major gifts development experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to directly and independently solicit and close major gifts in support of the priorities of HWZOA.
  • Experience in successful Major Gift fundraising with the skills and abilities to train, teach and develop these skills in volunteers at chapters throughout the area.
  • Strong organizational skills with database and computer literacy.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment with a significant group of dedicated and experienced volunteers.
  • Ability to work effectively from the autonomy of a home office environment.
  • Ability to impart enthusiasm and positive image of self and Hadassah.
  • Knowledge of and level of comfort with development process, including moves management.
  • Familiarity with planned giving vehicles.
  • Ability to represent Hadassah at public events.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Responsive to deadlines and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
