Israel, Zionism & America today
Rabbi Dr. Donniel Hartman is President of the Shalom Hartman Institute, a pluralistic center of research and education that is redefining the conversation about Judaism in modernity, religious pluralism, Israeli democracy, Israel and world Jewry, and the relationship with other faith communities. What he says about rethinking and “reclaiming” Zionism is thoughtful, controversial and inspiring.
He has a Ph.D. in Jewish philosophy from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a Master of Arts in political philosophy from New York University, a Master of Arts in religion from Temple University, and Rabbinic ordination from the Shalom Hartman Institute. He is Director of the Institute’s iEngage Project, and an author, essayist, blogger, and frequent lecturer.
