From our President
Greetings to all my Hadassah friends,
Hadassah founder Henrietta Szold said “Dare to dream...and when you dream, dream big”. The theme at the 98th Hadassah National Convention in July, which was co-chaired by Cincinnati’s own Carol Ann Schwartz, was “The Power of Our Dreams”. For over 100 years Hadassah women have defied wars, terror, plagues, and hunger to save lives, heal and educate. Hadassah Hospital has evolved into a state of the art facility with cutting edge research making strides to cure ALS, Parkinson’s disease, heart disease and macular degeneration, benefitting the world.
I am proud to report that Cincinnati Chapter won two awards at the Hadassah National Convention in Atlanta this summer: 100% Tower Goal and 100% Membership goal! One of our Cincinnati young leaders, LeeAnne Galioto, was honored to sing Hatikvah and the Star Spangled Banner at the Opening Ceremony. And a special mazal tov to member Jenny Broh, who received an Honorable Mention Award for the Henrietta Szold Fundraising Leadership Award! Jenny has been raising money for "Loving Layettes," a program for the babies at Hadassah Hospital, for many years. Come to our Opening Meeting and Installation Dinner on Sunday, September 11 from 5-7pm at Trio Bistro in Kenwood, and you will learn more about this wonderful program.
Hadassah has a “VOICE” in this unsettled world, let’s insure the future of our projects in Israel, and support Israel. Stay informed so that you can too, have a “voice” to speak out. CINCINNATI HADASSAH is playing her part and because of you and your support Hadassah’s future will continue. We should remember the past, but look to the future. This year we honored Carol Ann Schwartz at our Donor Luncheon. Our annual giving members are: FOUNDERS ($36,000 or more), KEEPERS of the GATE ($1,000 or $1800 per year), CHAI SOCIETY ( $180 or $360 per year). We sell greeting cards, certificates, JNF trees, handbag holders for the table, Macy’s gift cards, Panera gift cards. Click on our Amazon.com link & we earn a percentage of the order at no cost to you.
If you have not been involved before, here are just a few things we have fun doing here in Cincinnati: Book Discussion Group, Movie Mavens, Mah Jongg, Lunch Bunch, and monthly Coffee Talks.
Please join us whenever you are able to. We would love to have you.
