HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK: HAPPY HOUR
Join Us for HAPPY HOUR at JACKSONS on Tuesday, February 19th
Our first happy hour of the year on Tuesday, February 19th from 5 to 7 PM is coinciding with Purim Katan (February 18th/19th), which is only observed on a Jewish leap year. Consequently, this year we get to celebrate Purim twice!
Moreover, Purim Katan falls on the date of the second super moon of 2019, and the next super moon is due 30 days later on Purim proper or March 21st.
Come celebrate Purim Katan with us with an evening of camaraderie and good cheer! As well as catching up with old friends, please bring prospective members to introduce them to the sisterhood of Hadassah.
RSVP by e-mail to our fabulous membership chairs: Jodi Silow and Cantor Marla Goldberg. SouthernNevada@hadassah.org.
What is Period Poverty?
In a developed nation such as ours, it seems inconceivable that there are still young girls who cannot afford the relatively small expense of monthly sanitary products or that it comes down to a choice between eating or buying products. In turn, this leads to absenteeism in school, for the girls skip classes when they are menstruating. They naturally fall behind, and the cycle of an unsuccessful school career, which leads to financial poverty, is perpetuated. This is PERIOD POVERTY. Please join our chapter in doing our small part to help eradicate this issue in Southern Nevada. At each event/meeting held throughout the year, we will have a collection bin for hygienic products such as sanitary pads and/or tampons, pantiliners, feminine hygiene wipes and hand wipes. We will then distribute these items through our local schools for the benefit of homeless and school-age children. Thanking you in advance for your generosity to this important mission.
We welcome new members of all ages and encourage family particiaption. Our children of today brings hope for Hadassah's tomorrow.
