Book image Dalin

Please join us as we once again study together .

In keeping with the current interest in the Supreme Court, we will delve into the influences of the Jewish Justices of the Supreme Court.  Our text will be David Dalin’s  JEWISH JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT: FROM BRANDEIS TO KAGAN. You can purchase a copy of Dalin’s book at bookstores as well as on Amazon.

We will examine and explore the lives of these eight special people, the time period in which they were selected and the influence if any, they wielded. This stimulating text and thoughtful members’ input will not only provide sparkling conversation but intellectual growth.   We invite you to become a vital and needed  member of our MACHON group.

We meet in the Hadassah Region office : 1325 S. Congress Avenue # 209.  Boynton Beach, FL

Our sessions are held from 9:30 -11:30 AM on the first Sunday of the Month except for October. October’s class will be held on September 30.

From our President

Sheila Glass - President Pic

Pink.  The color that makes you think of baby girls, cotton candy and strawberry milkshakes.  Yet pink has become synonymous with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Fight for a cure.  Walk for a cure.  Wear pink for a cure.  Do you realize that OUR Hadassah Hospital isolated the BRCA gene?  OUR research had made it possible to pre-determine whether you are at risk for breast cancer.  This simple genetic test is now used worldwide.  WE did it with YOUR loyalty, YOUR dollars, YOUR love for Hadassah.

On Sunday, October 7th, Hadassah Florida Atlantic presented – Combat the Rise of Anti-Semitism, with a focus on children.  We learned how we, as parents and grandparents, can guide them to resist attacks of Anti-Semitism.  Leslie Gray Streeter, columnist for the Palm Beach Post, led our panel of speakers.  Our panel included the Anti-Defamation League, StandWithUs, Lori Berman, member of the Florida State Senate and Matt Weisbaum, documentary producer of “Crossing the Line – The New Face of Anti-Semitism on North American College Campuses”.  Our audience, of approximately 400 guests, was silent as they absorbed the seriousness of the forum.  To those of you who were there, thank you.  To all that could not attend, perhaps your chapter can present a similar program.

As we look forward to spending Thanksgiving with friends and family, remind yourself of the pledge we made to Hadassah Hospital.  Be proud of all the staggering inroads in healthcare and all the future breakthroughs for humanity.  Discoveries that would not be possible if it were not for your generosity.

Hadassah Women – Mitzvah Makers.  Thank you for all you will continue to DO.

B’Shalom – Sheila
