Women Who Advocate
Hadassah Florida Atlantic members met with Congresswoman Lois Frankel and Lea Padron, Regional Director for US Senator Marco Rubio for our Day in the District. We thank them both for taking the time to discuss the issues that matter, including gender equity in medical research, women’s preventive health and a robust U.S.-Israel relationship.

2019 REGION CALENDAR
Please join us as we once again study together .
In keeping with the current interest in the Supreme Court, we will delve into the influences of the Jewish Justices of the Supreme Court. Our text will be David Dalin’s JEWISH JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT: FROM BRANDEIS TO KAGAN. You can purchase a copy of Dalin’s book at bookstores as well as on Amazon.
We will examine and explore the lives of these eight special people, the time period in which they were selected and the influence if any, they wielded. This stimulating text and thoughtful members’ input will not only provide sparkling conversation but intellectual growth. We invite you to become a vital and needed member of our MACHON group.
We meet in the Hadassah Region office : 1325 S. Congress Avenue # 209. Boynton Beach, FL

From our President
May- the month of new beginnings
Israel Independence Day
Cinco De Mayo
Officially the beginning of wearing white pants and shoes (until Labor Day)
We at the Region Office have welcomed a new Financial Manager, Chad Leadens and sadly said goodbye to Nancy Zhmendak, our Admin. Nancy is a combination of sassy, silly, smart, sympathetic, shrewd and we will miss her desperately.
It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and secure to embrace the new. Nancy never feared change. To her it meant challenge- learning something new, adding another page in her book.
Last week I appointed Bobbi Prager to the post of Organizational Vice President. Bobbi has been on our Region PRAZE Executive Team. She has held many Executive positions in the past and she will be working side by side with both the Executive Board and myself. I am very happy to welcome her and look forward to introducing Bobbi to all of you.
Did you know that Hadassah Hospital’s excellent research team has found a breakthrough in the treatment of Alzheimer’s? It is in the beginning stages but so far it shows the most promise in fulfilling our goals for a major successful treatment of this disease. Go online to www.hadassah.org to read the article and pass on the amazing information. Spread the word- we need you to sell Hadassah to those who do not yet know what we do.
If you have not yet done so, please start forming your Nominating Committees. I am surprised that I did not receive more applications for Convention. What are you waiting for? It is going to be a BLAST! You might even be eligible for subvention from your Chapter. Just fill out the form and send it to the Region Office. We will get in touch with your President if you meet the parameters.
Whether you are a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother or the mother of a “hairy child”-
Happy Mother’s Day
May you be blessed with health and joy.
You deserve it!
