Please join us as we once again study together .

In keeping with the current interest in the Supreme Court, we will delve into the influences of the Jewish Justices of the Supreme Court.  Our text will be David Dalin’s  JEWISH JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT: FROM BRANDEIS TO KAGAN. You can purchase a copy of Dalin’s book at bookstores as well as on Amazon.

We will examine and explore the lives of these eight special people, the time period in which they were selected and the influence if any, they wielded. This stimulating text and thoughtful members’ input will not only provide sparkling conversation but intellectual growth.   We invite you to become a vital and needed  member of our MACHON group.

We meet in the Hadassah Region office : 1325 S. Congress Avenue # 209.  Boynton Beach, FL

From our President

Sheila Glass - President Pic

Squirrel Hill – Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood – an idyllic storybook town.  My kids were addicted to this Public Television children’s program.  I watched with them, thinking that one day maybe we will live in a picture book town exactly like Squirrel Hill.

Sadly, that very place now reeks with the smell of fear and death.

Why would this happen in the U.S.?  What could we have done to stop it?  How do we make sure that it never happens to us?  There is no answer.  Perhaps we should start learning how to recognize danger.

Hadassah started in a country filled with danger.  Jewish life has always been filled with danger.  Our grandparents came to America to get away from danger.  Israelis fought two wars to save their country from danger.

Volunteering for Hadassah has taught me to respect responsibility.  I am concerned for all of us that living in this beautiful state has made many of us too comfortable, feeling protected by our fantasy-like setting, we forget the gray in the other part of the picture.  Let’s not let that happen.  Hadassah gives us the opportunity to see beyond our beautiful view.  READ about our mission.  DIGEST all the good we have done.  DREAM about all the miraculous research we do.  JOIN a committee.  BECOME an advocate.  FIGHT for your passion.  Get out and see the “not so pretty” things.

The next time Hadassah presents a forum that takes you out of your comfort zone, force yourself to go and take a friend.  Think of Squirrel Hill and Mr. Roger’s singing “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood”.  Think of all the things you can do to keep life beautiful.  Join our Advocacy Team.  Commit to an Advocacy project:  Gun Violence, Women’s Equality, the Never Again Act.

November 23rd was Thanksgiving.  We have so much to be thankful for.  Before we began our turkey feast, we said a prayer for all the goodness in our lives.  We prayed for the victims of Parkland, Pittsburgh and Thousand Oaks.  We spoke of ways to bring love back into our country.  Hadassah women have the strength and together we have the power.

Be safe this Thanksgiving.  Enjoy your families.

From my house to yours - Sheila
