Hadassah Greeting Cards
We are now selling only sympathy and get well cards. The new cost is $1.00 a card or 6 for $5.00. When we mail the card for you, the total cost of the card and mailing is $2.50. Please contact Diane Lando.
You can also purchase the following online. It is quick and easy.
Tower Hospital Certificates
Hadassah has built a 19-story hospital in Eln Karem, Jerusalem. The Sarah Wetsman Davidson Tower was dedicated on Hadassah’s 100th Anniversary, in October 2012. You may send a Tower Certificate in honor of any occasion or in memory of a loss. Please contact Rose Schoenfeld.
We are very happy to report that the National Office of Hadassah has recognized our efforts to support heart research at our "Ya Gotta Have Heart" gala. Thank you to the hard work and dedication of our members.
From our President
Summer is over, Hurricane Irma is behind us, as is Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. I truly hope all of you made it through “Irma” without any major problems. We now have the opportunity to look ahead to new beginnings and new possibilities. As you know, our trip to the Foosaner Museum with lunch afterward was canceled due to Irma but will be rescheduled in the future. We are now ready to begin our Meetings of the Month which your Planning Committee worked so hard on all summer.
October promises to be a very interesting month for Hadassah. Our meeting will be held at the Eau Gallie Library on Tuesday, October 17th, beginning at 9:30 AM. As promised, you will not be sitting through all the reports and general discussion. You will have a handout letting you know the important facts. Beginning at 9:30 AM, we will have refreshments and fashions from Bon Worth. This is a fundraiser for us as 10% of sales will go to Hadassah. At approximately 10:00 AM, you will be given a chance to ask questions on any items in the handout and the Hadassah Board Slate for 2018 will be presented. Beginning at 10:30 AM, a speaker from Aging Matters will present some very interesting information.
As mentioned in my article last month, we have some very fun and interesting events coming up:
- 1. Bunco will be held on Sunday, October 29th at the Schechter Community Center beginning at noon.
- 2. Fundraiser on October 24th at BJ’s Restaurant/Brewhouse. All you have to do is present the BJ’s Fundraiser Flyer found in this newsletter to BJ’s on October 24th between 11 AM and 9 PM. Our chapter will earn 20% of total food and soft drink purchases for this one day only event. Remember, this is only good if you present the flyer.
- 3. On November 12th, the Taste of Jerusalem will be held at Wickham Park. Volunteers are needed to help make this event a success.
- 4. On Tuesday, November 14th, our Chapter will be going to the Ruth Funk Museum followed by lunch at Matt’s Casbah. Carpools will be arranged as parking is limited.
I want to thank all of you for making Hadassah and, especially our Chapter, a success. Together we can make the future brighter and better for the world.
