From our President
This first year of my presidency has gone by so fast - hard to
believe Thanksgiving has come and gone already and now we
find ourselves in the month of Kislev, the month of Chanukah. I
hope many of you were able to visit with friends and family for
Thanksgiving and enjoy some special time. Some of you may
be visiting and enjoying the company of friends and family
during Chanukah, and I truly hope the light will shine on each
and every one of you.
The Taste of Jerusalem was a success. What we didn’t plan on
was running out of our baked goods by 3PM. No one really
knew how big a crowd we would get, so there were others just
as surprised as us. In addition to all the food booths and the
vendors, the music and entertainment was delightful.
The Hadassah trip to the Ruth Funk Museum was very well
received, and I believe everyone enjoyed the docent-led tour of
Cloth as a Community. It was quite a learning experience.
Lunch at Matt’s Casbah after the tour was great. Good food
and good company always makes for a great day.
We do have some very exciting events happening this month:
We are volunteering to wrap gifts at Barnes & Noble on various
days through December 24th. Barnes & Noble does not charge
for gift wrapping; however, there is a tip jar, and Hadassah
keeps all the tips on the days we work. If you have not signed
up yet, there are still some openings. Please consider giving
your time for this fundraiser. Please contact Barbara
Rubenstein on her cell at 502-693-3956 or her home number
321-482-5891. Think of this as a Mitzvah.
For those of you who made your reservations, the Heritage Isle
Chanukah Celebration Tea is on December 13th from 3:00PM
to 5:00PM. There will be a 50/50 drawing to benefit Hadassah.
If you don’t have a reservation yet, call Marleen Goldstein at
954-557-8939 or Marilyn Fox at 301-529-9388. They will let
you know if tickets are still available.
Coming up on December 19th is our Annual Installation
Luncheon. It is being held at The Fountains beginning at
11:30AM with lunch served at noon. This promises to be a fun
afternoon with a delicious lunch. In addition to meeting your
2018 Board, there will be a presentation of a “Woman of Valor”
Award. Please join us. A flyer is in this newsletter, and
reservations will only be accepted through December 10th.
Please don’t hesitate - make your reservation today.
Please continue to support our events which, in turn, helps to
support Israel and Hadassah Medical Organization. So many
breakthroughs in medical research have been reached and
without our support, this may not happen.
I wish all of you a Happy Chanukah and a happy, healthy, and
prosperous New Year. Let’s all work together to make 2018 a
