From our President
Dear Members of Hadassah Northern New England,
As we look forward to the New Year, I am excited to take on this new role as President of Hadassah Northern New England. There are so many opportunities for all of us to help Hadassah fulfill its mission of providing excellent medical care at our Hadassah Hospitals at Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, supporting cutting edge stem cell research and the development of immunotherapies, and advocating for women’s health in Israel, the US and world-wide.
Our mission as a region is to support our chapters as they provide meaningful opportunities for Hadassah women to come together to share experiences, to learn and study together, and to build community while working toward common goals.
One of our major goals this year will be to support the 360 Degree of Healing Campaign which will enable the renovation of the iconic round building on the Ein Kerem campus in order to bring 21st century care to its patients.
Another goal is to support Zionism education by encouraging chapters to hold Zionism programs, utilizing the Discussing Zionism on-line series of video vignettes or holding a salon series using Gil Troy ‘s new book, The Zionist Idea, and the accompanying Study Guide. To facilitate the latter, the region has purchased a set of 10 books that can be lent to study/book groups. Please let me know if you are interested in joining a group.
But our most important goal is to engage each of the over 7,500 women in Hadassah Northern New England, to encourage each of us to recognize how important we, as individuals, are to the success of the Hadassah mission. We will also be reaching out to the next generations of Hadassah women, by supporting the activities of the Young Women’s Council of Hadassah North East. If you are, or know, a woman who might be interested in this group, please let me know.
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy New Year,
Kathy Kerstein, President
