From our President
I can hardly believe it has been a year since I wrote my first letter for Metulla Matters. I am so grateful for the wonderful 2016 Board, and all of our members participation, who have worked so diligently to make our chapter successful. Metulla’s successes are Hadassah’s successes in supporting so many research projects and the Hadassah hospitals.
We had our 3rd Chinese Auction, a Passover Tasters, a 3rd Fashion Show/luncheon/silent auction with 80+ attendees and over 100 auction items, a 1st Chai Tea under the Sukkah and now have 24 Chai Society members, a 1st Maj Mania Mah Jongg tournament, 3 Theater parties, Honey in jars sales, programs that were both educational and social from Zentangles to AIPAC, and we continue having our Book Club. Gift Wrapping at Barnes & Noble at both the Forum for a week and North Point for two days.
Metulla gals are always giving just a little bit more to help so many.
On December 11th we had our installation of Metulla Officers for 2017. We have a fantastic Board with two Co-Presidents. I look forward to working with my new Co-President, Anita Otero. The event was fun and the food was delicious!
I feel so much pride in my heart to be part of such an outstanding organization. In conclusion, I leave you with a quote from the late Elie Wiesel, (found in the forward of the book by Martin Levin, It Takes a Dream: The Story of Hadassah). “Today, it is incumbent upon us to recount simply all the pride that Hadassah inspires in the hearts of so many Jews in Israel, in America and around the world.”
Today, let us say to Hadassah, to its leaders and to its members - thank you for existing, thank you for all the honor you bestow on Jewish womanhood.
Remember our motto: Do more - with more - for more.
Happy Hanukkah - Will see you next year.
