From our President
Dear Metulla Members,
It’s so hard to believe that we’re already halfway through the year. The next time I write, it will be almost fall. Where has the time gone? Time always goes fast when you’re having fun and being productive.
Metulla ladies have been working very hard as we are getting ready for some really great fundraising projects. We are now selling Honey Jars for Rosh Hashanah, a project headed by Chairperson Karen Miller. On September 11th, we’re having our third Fashion Show, luncheon, and silent auction organized by chairpersons, Gail Golden, Anita Otero, and Sharyn Lazarnick and committees. On September 14th, the first Theater Show will be held. Gail Golden has started selling tickets. On October 20th, we’re having our first Chai Society recognition tea under the Sukkah. Elva Rosner, Chairperson, proudly reported that we already have 16 participants! Then on November 11th, we’re having our first Mah Jongg Tournament with chairpersons Cheryl Gordon and Barbara Lang. On December 15th we’ll start gift wrapping, which is our largest fundraising project. This year, we lose December 24th since it’s on Saturday. We’ll really be depending on everyone to help out with several shifts. Without YOU these great projects would not work and Metulla would not achieve its goals to help so many in Research in Service to Humanity. No matter what religion or creed, we all are recipients of the research.
In just a few weeks, July 25th - 28th the Hadassah 98th National Convention will begin here in Atlanta. I am so excited to represent Metulla as President of this dynamic group of women. Also, representing Metulla is Helen Scherrer Diamond who is attending with her husband, David and Elva Rosner with her husband, Norman. We will learn so much to share with you. At the sessions I will attend, I’ll learn about the many ways Hadassah works closely with the United Nations; how Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO) is using stem cell therapies and other cutting-edge technology; how our Youth Aliyah project focuses on the serious challenges children face; and hear Israel’s first female Speaker of the Knesset...and so much more. I hope you will want to participate and help us on all our projects and let me know how you would like to be involved.
Remember our motto: Do more with more for more.
