Save The Date: "Chai" Luncheon 2016
Chai Luncheon Logo

Plans are being made for our annual Chai Luncheon, a dairy potluck event. The luncheon will again be at Riverfarms Condominium at “Chai” Noon on Sunday, November 6. Donations in Chai Increments (beginning at $36) support Hadassah projects. Watch for your invitation in the mail; please RSVP by October 21.

We will be honoring all of our New Members and
New Life Members. And, as in past years, the theme for the luncheon is women’s health awareness.

We are excited to announce that our speaker will be President of Rhode Island Hospital, Margaret M. Van Bree, MHA, DrPH. She will speak about her visit to Hadassah Hospital in Israel.

You can view photos from past Chai Luncheons by clicking on the link under Photo Albums.

From our President

Installation 2016

Some of you have been members of Hadassah for just a short time, or perhaps for 10, for 30 even for 50 years; some of you may never have heard about Hadassah before today.  There is always something to learn.  Our history as a women’s Zionist organization goes back to Henrietta Szold and her visit to pre-state Israel in 1909. Within 3 years, Henrietta’s study group had raised enough money to send 2 nurses to treat the scourge of diseases such as trachoma and to provide pasteurized milk to mothers and their infants; they could not have imagined the growth that has been seen over these last 104 years.

Having the experience of 2 decades of stem cell study, Hadassah researchers are cooperating with others both in Israel and in other locations, (including at Mass General Hospital and the UMass Medical Center in Worcester) and are finding the potential for cures for Age-Related Macular Degeneration, for Parkinson’s Disease, for Lou Gehrig’s Disease – ALS - , for Diabetes, for Melanoma.  Today even the Zika virus is being studied in Israel!  It is through these advances in research of those diseases that affect the world’s populations, that we at Hadassah are building bridges to peace.

Your generous donations to Hadassah help us to continue our life saving work in Israel and the US.
