SAVE THE DATE: Cause for Applause 2017
Announcing our 4th Annual Cause for Applause, honoring Dr. Merry Drench to be held on May 7, 2017. This is a Hadassah Rhode Island fundraiser for Brain Cancer Research.
Showtime at The Ocean State Theater for Victor, Victoria is at 2:00. There will be a reception following the show.
Merry Drench was an author and a popular lecturer in Physical Therapy and Behavioral Sciences. She was known for her sharp wit and great sense of humor and brought these same gifts to her decades of service and devotion to Hadassah. She was a Past President of the Western New England Region and of Hadassah Rhode Island.
Merry lost her battle with brain cancer in May, 2013. Her love of musical theater makes this fundraiser a perfect way to “applaud” Merry for the wonderful person that she was.
Download the Invitation and Registration Form here. Tickets are limited and may not be available after April 7.

Dear friends and members of Hadassah Rhode Island,
As I sit here cozy in my warm house, I am disappointed that we were not able to hold our Hadassah meeting today . We had planned this meeting with our speaker, Hershey Rosen, whom many of you know - and it’s too bad that the snowfall did us in! It is always best to be cautious as we ask our members to be on the roads, right??
Our next big event is in May - Cause for Applause, to honor the memory of Dr. Meredith Drench. This year’s play at the Ocean State Theater on May 7 is “Victor, Victoria”. And our annual Books on the Beach will be in August, to be held again at Oceancliff in Newport. Please watch for more information on both of these exciting events on our Hadassah calendar!
So I did want to fill you in on some of the Hadassah Rhode Island “ goings-on”. From December 15 to 24, about 50 of us gift wrapped at Warwick Mall, continuing a project begun about 40 years ago by Pawtucket Hadassah. What a wonderful and fun this event is, a great bonding among our members and friends and a great way to spread the word of Hadassah, as well as to make new friendships and rekindle some from the previous year! Our huge thanks to Judy Silverman who coordinates this entire project!!!
Because of YOU in 2016 we...
The results are real and, in many cases, astounding. We could not have done any of this without you. We look forward to sharing more of these successes with you throughout 2017.
