When Hadassah was born in Greensboro, it represented a new and for some, a difficult concept that rather than blending into their surroundings, Jewish women could unite publicly and proudly to work for Zionist ideals. The dedication, courage, and perseverance of a handful of women bore fruit as the greensboro Chapter of Hadassah wass chartered on July 28, 1943. Under the strong and able leadership of Goldie Zager, the first President, Hadassah forged new paths in our community. Today, Hadassah Greensboro retains the passion and timeless values of its founder, Henrietta Szold, Jewish scholar and activist, who was dedicated to Judaism, Zionism, and the American ideal.
