Young Judaea Celebrates 100 Years
Six generations of Jewish American youth have become supporters, advocates and lovers of Israel through Young Judaea. Since 1909, the members of this youth movement have been at the forefront of Zionism, social action, Jewish leadership training and communal camaraderie. This June marks Young Judaea’s centennial anniversary, celebrating a century of commitment and a lifetime of connection. Date: 6/16/2009

Hadassah condemns today’s terrorist attack in Jerusalem, in which a Palestinian armed with a rifle opened fire inside "Merkaz Harav" Yeshiva where some 80 people were gathered to celebrate the first day of the month of Adar. Hadassah Physicians Make Research Breakthroughs to Benefit Neurological Patients
New cell growth seen from harvesting and growing bone marrow stem cells
Physicians at Hadassah Medical Organization have discovered that it is possible to remove stem cells from a patient's bone marrow, to isolate these cells under special conditions, and to generate new cells. This treatment, still in the research stage, has been tested on 25 neurological patients suffering from multiple sclerosis and ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Date: 11/26/2007

Young American Author Dara Horn To Receive 2007 Ribalow Prize
Dara Horn, author of The World to Come, is the winner of the 2007 Harold U. Ribalow Prize, it was announced today by Hadassah Magazine, which administers the award. Given annually during Jewish Book Month to an author who has written an outstanding work of fiction on a Jewish theme, the prize will be presented on Tuesday, November 20, in New York City. A study by Dr. Michal Braun, psycho-oncologist at the Hadassah University Medical Center’s Sharett Institute of Oncology, documents previous anecdotal evidence – that cancer and its treatment have a profound impact on cancer patients’ significant others as well as on the patients themselves. Hadassah Disappointed by New Jersey Vote on Stem-Cell Funding
Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, is deeply disappointed at the failure of New Jersey voters to approve the public referendum on stem-cell research. If passed, The Stem Cell Research Bond Act would have authorized the state of New Jersey to sell a total of $450 million in bonds, providing $45 million a year over the next ten years to support ground-breaking and potentially life-saving stem cell research in the state. Hadassah Saddened by Failure of Oregon Health Care Measure
Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, is saddened by the failure of Measure 50, dubbed the Healthy Kids Plan, to pass a public referendum in Oregon yesterday. If the measure had passed, taxes on cigarettes would have been raised by 84.5 cents per pack and the proceeds would have provided health coverage to more than 100,000 uninsured Oregon children. Nearly 150 years after her birth and more than 60 years after her death, Henrietta Szold, founder of Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame (NWHF), yesterday in Seneca Falls, NY, the birthplace of the American women's rights movement.
