The Nassau Region of Hadassah held its annual Myrtle Wreath Award Reception. One special woman was honored from each of the Region's units with the distinctive Myrtle Wreath Presidential Award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to membership.
The Region also honored three trailblazers for their outstanding work in their particular field: Kathleen Rice, Nassau County District Attorney and the first women District Attorney on Long island; Jane Eisner, Editor-in-Chief- of the Jewish Forward and the first woman to hold that position at the influential Jewish national weekly newspaper; and Barbara Goldstein, Deputy Executive Director of Hadassah Office in Israel accepting the award on behalf of her Office which serves as a singular unified voice for HWZOA in Israel.
The Ravens weren't the only winners of the Super Bowl -so were those members of the Newtown Group of Hadassah of Greater Philadelphia. The new Sarah Wetzman Davidson Hospital Tower at Hadassah EinKeremwas the recipient of funds raised at the annual Joan Weiss Memorial Super Bowl Brunch where delicious food and victory were the order of the day. Back by popular demand, the Park Slope Brooklyn Chapter hosted its Passover Women's Seder. Rabbi Heidi Hoover of Temple Beth Emeth led the women in the Hagadah's traditional, ritualand educational aspects of the Exodus from Egypt. An added treat was the sampling of Charoset from different lands.
The Sacramento Chapter particpates in the Sima Spector Women's Health Conference; Healthy Women, Healthy Lives
On October 18, The Sacramento Group in the Central Pacific Coast Region sponsored The Sima Spector Women's Health Conference; Healthy Women, Healthy Lives. Attendees collected information from twenty exhibitors and listened to Dr Tom Balsbaugh MD, Residency Program Director at UC Davis. Dr. Balsbaugh described how UCD trains its medical students to work collaboratively with patients. The program featured Assembly member, Alyson Huber and advocacy experts from Sacramento's Dignity Health Hospitals as well as a session on yoga/relaxation. Over 100 women attended this stimulating program.
Cincinnati Chapter of Hadassah sponsored its annual Education Day for members and the community on Sunday, February 10, in the Teller Student Lounge at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Guest speaker Rabbi Judy Chessin of Temple Beth Or, spoke about “A Chocolate Seder: Chocolate Dips and Seder Tips,” featuring chocolate treats and little-known facts about the holiday of Passover. Chessin is well known to local Hadassah members, having participated at Hadassah Coffee Talk as well as last year’s Education Day.
On Sunday, January 27, 2013 Dr. H.L. Greenberg, Board Certified Dermatologist and founder of Las Vegas Dermatology, presented a "Maintaining Healthy Looking Skin" lecture at the Healthy Women, Healthy Lives Seminar sponsored by Hadassah Southern Nevada Chapter and Congregation Ner Tamid Sisterhood. This lecture provided information about topical medicines, lasers, and other devices and treatments to keep skin looking and feeling its best at any age and included Dr. Greenberg’s philosophy of providing patients a “healthier and more beautiful life.”
Metuchen-Edison Hadassah gave members and nonmembers an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the town when they participated in the popular Progressive Dinner on January 26. They first gathered at a member’s home in Metuchen for appetizers, and then split into smaller groupings for an elegant sit-down main course at several individual homes. At 9:30 p.m., the full group reassembled for fabulous desserts and a chance to “compare notes” at another member’s Edison home.
A good time was had by all while raising funds for Hadassah programs in Israel and around the world.

Over 100 people gathered on Sunday afternoon at the Sheraton Needham Hotel for the Southern New England Region Fashion Show to get a glimpse of 2013 spring fashion trends by Lyn Evans of Potporri Designs and the Gap.
At the fashion show, hosted by Kimberly Bookman of WCVB-TV News Center 5, more than thirty casual, evening and children's outfits were modeled by the Hadassah members of the Southern New England Region aged 3 to 69.
