Hadassah Physician Receives Hebrew University Award for Research on New Type 1 Diabetes Treatment

On June 1, Dr. Osnat Levtzion-Korach M.D, M.H.A., will assume the position of Director of the Hadassah University Hospital-Mt. Scopus, succeeding Prof. Zvi Stern, who completed eleven years as Director ofthe hospital. Prof. Stern was recently appointed President of the Jerusalem Academic College of Engineering.

Hadassah Lab Discovery: Special Compound Dramatically Shrinks Lung Tumors
Hadassah University Medical Center researchers have discovered that a special compound called BKT140 shrank lung cell tumors by about 50 percent in cell samples and laboratory mice. When BKT140 was combined with radiation therapy and chemotherapy, cancer cell growth decreased by about 90 percent in lab samples! Date: 5/24/2012

Childhood Cancer Survivors Bolstered by Hadassah Medical Center Clinic

The Hadassah University Medical Center's 2012 Nancy Falchuk Nursing Scholarships were awarded in March to Odeya Tel-Tzur, Deputy Head Nurse at the Judy and Sidney Swartz Center for Emergency Medicine; Meirav Kiviti, Oncology Day Care Nurse at the Sharett Institute of Oncology; Yehudit Lalum-Har'el, Head Nurse in the Pediatric and Surgery Outpatient Clinic at Hadassah Hospital-Mount Scopus; and Sigalit Caspi, Head Nurse in the Emergency Room at Hadassah-Mt. Scopus. The Falchuk scholarship, which enables the nurses to pursue advanced study, conduct research or give a presentation at an international conference, was created through donations from Hadassah International units around the world in tribute to Outgoing Hadassah International President, Nancy Falchuk, when she completed her term in 2004. Hadasit, Hadassah’s Technology Transfer Arm, Reviews 2012’s Accomplishments

When the Hadassah University Medical Center’s physicians suggest a solution to a medical problem which can lead to the development of a new medicine or product, Hadasit, Hadassah’s technology transfer arm, explores its feasibility and supports the promotion of those viable ideas with innovation potential. Although 2012 has been “a year full of challenges for the life science industry,” says Einat Zisman, Hadasit’s Chief Executive Officer, Hadasit still signed 125 agreements for clinical trials, all to be done at Hadassah.
