Researchers Identify Gene Involved in Ovarian Development
A teenage girl who came to the Hadassah University Medical Center for help when she did not go through puberty, led to the discovery of a gene that plays a major role in ovarian development. The three-year investigation was conducted by a joint team from Hadassah and Shaare Zedek Medical Center, led by Dr. David Zangen, head of Hadassah’s Pediatric Endocrinology Unit, and Prof. Ephrat Levy-Lahad, head of the Medical Genetics Institute at Shaare Zedek. Dr. Yael Houri-Haddad, who immigrated to Israel from Tunisia at age 14, is a Hadassah University Medical Center dentist with a PhD in oral biology. She acquired both specialties at Hadassah where she now teaches, treats patients, and conducts research in the Department of Prosthodontics at the Hadassah Hebrew University School of Dental Medicine. Clinical Trial at Hadassah Hospital Yields Positive Results With Noninvasive Test for Liver Cancer
A clinical trial conducted at the Hadassah University Medical Center has revealed that BreathID, a new noninvasive device for the detection of hepato-cellular carcinoma, a type of liver cancer, achieved diagnostic results similar to CT Scans and MRIs. BreathID was developed by Exalenz Bioscience Ltd., whose Medical Director is Prof. Yaron Ilan, Director of Hadassah's Department of Internal Medicine. Date: 10/24/2011

Hadasit, Hadassah’s Technology Transfer Arm, Reviews 2012’s Accomplishments

When the Hadassah University Medical Center’s physicians suggest a solution to a medical problem which can lead to the development of a new medicine or product, Hadasit, Hadassah’s technology transfer arm, explores its feasibility and supports the promotion of those viable ideas with innovation potential. Although 2012 has been “a year full of challenges for the life science industry,” says Einat Zisman, Hadasit’s Chief Executive Officer, Hadasit still signed 125 agreements for clinical trials, all to be done at Hadassah.
