Remembering Kristallnacht
Kristallnacht—The Night of Broken Glass—was the beginning of Hitler's Final Solution and the Shoah. On November 9, 1938 Nazi storm troopers in Germany and Austria ransacked, demolished and burnt 1000 synagogues, 7000 Jewish businesses, countless Jewish schools, hospitals and community buildings. Rampant looting took place—not by the Nazis, but by civilians. Violence erupted in hundreds of communities, some where only a few Jewish families lived. Almost 100 Jews were murdered and 30,000 were sent off to concentration camps. Date: 11/8/2013


Senate Passes LGBT Employment Non-Discrimination Act
November 7, 2013, the Senate passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would ban employment decisions on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. The bill passed the Senate in a bipartisan vote of 64-32, but it now moves to the House, where it faces tough opposition. Thank your Senators for standing up against discrimination and urge your Representatives to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA)! Date: 11/7/2013
