40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court handed down a landmark decision in Roe v. Wade, recognizing a woman's constitutional right to make her own reproductive health choices—including seeking access to legal abortion. Forty years later, the fight continues with new attacks on reproductive rights launched every year. Defeats of these proposals are hard fought and victories hard won. Date: 1/22/2013

Eli Finds His Future at Youth Aliyah
Some of the children in our Youth Aliyah villages are survivors of violence and cultural dislocation. Eli, a high school senior, moved to Israel from Romania with his mother and sister when he was ten. Despite her obvious intelligence, Eli's mother, an engineer, became overwhelmed with emotional problems. They became extreme: first she beat him and, when he became old enough, he hit her back. She called the police. He was referred to Meir Shfeyah Youth Aliyah village. Date: 1/16/2013
