Florida visited Hadassah Academic College on May 27th for special
seminars conducted by lecturers from the College's department of
Politics and Communication.

National President Marcie Natan Strengthens Hadassah's Bond with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC)
This year, as part of their annual fundraising events, the Cincinnati Chapter of Hadassah brought in National President Marcie Natan, as the guest speaker at three events and had her meet personally with other Hadassah supporters in the community. She also toured Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) and heard from CCHMC doctors, including one Hadassah doctor in the United States working and studying for three years, about the incredible benefits to CCHMC and the two Hadassah Hospitals in Jerusalem brought about by the Israel Exchange Program (IEP). This was capped off by Councilmen P.G. Sittenfeld giving Marcie and Chapter President Bonnie Juran Ullner a Proclamation signed by the mayor proclaiming it Hadassah Day in Cincinnati on April 25, 2013.
Hadassah Welcomes Continued Progress Toward Expanding Egalitarian Prayer at Western Wall
On April 22, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved Natan Sharansky's proposals to expand egalitarian prayer at the Western Wall and today, April 25, a Jerusalem District Court ruled in favor of women's rights to pray at the Wall. In response, today, Marcie Natan, National President of Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, released the following statement:
Governor O’Malley and University of Maryland, Baltimore President Visit Hebrew University Hadassah School of Medicine
Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and Dr. Jay Perman, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, visited the Hebrew University Hadassah School of Medicine in Jerusalem today as part of a mission to fortify relationships between Maryland and Israel trauma care and emergency medicine and research. Perman also visited the trauma center at Hadassah Medical Center.

Equal Pay Day 2013
April 9 is Equal Pay Day 2013. Since Equal Pay day was established in 1996—17 years ago—the wage gap has decreased by only 4 cents. At this rate, the wage gap won't close until 2057—45 years from now! America's women are worth more and they deserve better.
Advocate for Comprehensive Gun Control Legislation
On April 8, 2013, Congress returned from a two-week recess to the issue of gun control at the top of its agenda. Over the last several months, Hadassah has worked with its coalition partners to advocate for comprehensive gun control legislation addressing firearms, improved access to mental health services, and a conversation about violence in the media.

Over the last several months, more than 50 companies have filed court cases challenging the Contraception Mandate—the proposal announced in January of 2012 that requires most insurance policies to include free contraceptive coverage (no co-pays). These companies claim that the religious beliefs of the organization—or even the boss’s own views—should determine what contraceptive coverage is available for all employees.

Mr. Nimrod Levi, a 26 year old first year student in the Department of Photographic Communications at Hadassah Academic College was awarded second prize in Yad Vashem's annual worldwide poster competition.
Gay Rights at the Supreme Court
Yesterday, the Supreme Court of the United States heard oral arguments in a landmark gay rights case: United States v. Windsor. The case addresses the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which federally defines marriage—and all rights and benefits associated with that designation—as a union between a man and a woman.
