The Fight for Pay Equity Goes On
Hadassah Members, Associates, and supporters were among thousands of Americans who made phone calls and sent letters about the Paycheck Fairness Act.  These efforts helped garner several new co-sponsors, but ultimately the bill fell short of the necessary 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. On a party-line vote, 52 Senators voted for cloture (allowing the bill to proceed), while 47 opposed it. Date: 6/6/2012

Exciting Genome Discovery and Hadassah is There!

The discovery of a mummified Korean child with relatively preserved organs enabled an Israeli-South Korean scientific team to conduct a genetic analysis on a liver biopsy which revealed a unique hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotype C2 sequence common in Southeast Asia. The reconstruction of the ancient hepatitis B virus genetic code is the oldest full viral genome described in the scientific literature to date.
