Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, mourns the passing of Charlotte Jacobson, one of the towering figures of the Zionist movement, who died Friday, May 14, in Florida. In addition to serving as Hadassah’s National President from 1964 to 1968, over the course of the past 60 years she occupied a vast range of key positions in the American and world Zionist leadership.

On February 20-23, Hadassah joined hundreds of Jewish leaders from across the United States at the 2010 Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA) Plenum in Dallas, Texas. The theme of the plenum was “B’Yachad: Building Bridges – Acting Together”, which highlights working together and building relationships with friends in the Jewish community and beyond.

Young Judaea's Year Course, like many educational programs, has recently endured
cutbacks and restructuring. As a former Young Judaean who occasionally lectures there, I have
been asked repeatedly, "Is the program as good as it was?" Unsure myself, I arranged an
informal Year Course focus group. I did not want to compare – because students cannot compare
experiences either – but to learn about today's experiences.
