Women's Rights Update
2012Today is the first ever United Nations International Day of the Girl Child. Young Judaea Year Course 2012-2013 Has Arrived
Some 250 recent high school graduates from across Europe, North America, and even Puerto Rico, gathered under a twilight sky in the ancient city of Jerusalem. The young people were sitting in clusters on mats laid out across a grassy lawn in the heart of a quaint garden neighborhood. Suddenly the call of a shofar, a ritual ram’s horn, pierced the evening.
Attacks on U.S. Diplomats

Women's Equality Day 2012
August 26, 2012 will mark 92 years since the institution of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. In 1971, Congresswoman—and Hadassah Member—Bella Abzug championed the creation of Women's Equality Day to commemorate the amendment's institution. Every year since, Women's Equality Day has been officially recognized on August 26 by presidential proclamation.

Seven Awards for Hadassah Magazine
Kol HaKavod to Hadassah Magazine Executive Editor Alan M. Tigay and his team. The magazine recently won seven Rockower Awards for excellence in Jewish journalism. The Rockowers are given annually by the American Jewish Press Association.
The seven prizes made Hadassah Magazine the biggest winner of any magazine. In two cases the magazine took both first and second place in the same category.
