Update: Palestinian UNESCO Membership
Next Monday, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is expected to approve the Palestinian’s application for membership. State Department lawyers have reviewed existing American legislation and see no way around the laws, which would necessitate an automatic cutoff of U.S. funding to UNESCO should the Palestinians gain membership. U.S. dues and contributions to UNESCO make up 22 percent of the organization's budget.

Remarks of President Barack Obama – As Prepared for Delivery Address to the United Nations General Assembly
New York City - September 21, 2011
One year ago, I stood at this podium and called for an independent Palestine. I believed then – and I believe now – that the Palestinian people deserve a state of their own. But what I also said is that genuine peace can only be realized between Israelis and Palestinians themselves. One year later, despite extensive efforts by America and others, the parties have not bridged their differences. Faced with this stalemate, I put forward a new basis for negotiations in May. That basis is clear, and well known to all of us here. Israelis must know that any agreement provides assurances for their security. Palestinians deserve to know the territorial basis of their state.

Women's Equality Day, 2011
The 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution tore down the last formal barrier to women's enfranchisement in our Nation and empowered America's women to have their voices heard in the halls of power. This Amendment became law only after decades of work by committed trailblazers who fought to extend the right to vote to women across America. For the women who fought for this right, voting was not the end of the journey for equality, but the beginning of a new era in the advancement of our Union.

The article gave some general figures about the number of scientific articles per person in Israel. But the one case that was brought as an example was Hadassah Tissue Typing Registry, and in particular our unique project of encouraging Israeli Arabs to register
