Four Main Line Hadassah members were each queen for the day as they marked their 100th birthday at a recent celebration honoring their contributions to the charitable organization. Date: 9/24/2012


Young Judaea Year Course 2012-2013 Has Arrived
Some 250 recent high school graduates from across Europe, North America, and even Puerto Rico, gathered under a twilight sky in the ancient city of Jerusalem. The young people were sitting in clusters on mats laid out across a grassy lawn in the heart of a quaint garden neighborhood. Suddenly the call of a shofar, a ritual ram’s horn, pierced the evening. Attacks on U.S. Diplomats
Hadassah joins the Jewish Council for Public Affairs and the greater Jewish community in condemning the attacks on U.S. diplomats in Egypt and Libya and praying for the year 5773 to be one of cooperation and peace. Did you know? The women’s suffrage movement in the United States influenced and inspired Hadassah’s leaders and policies. Henrietta Szold’s sister Rachel S. Jastrow—founder of Hadassah’s second chapter in 1914 and a liaison to the Wisconsin Legislature for the Women's Suffrage Movement—was instrumental in helping Wisconsin become the first state to ratify women's right to vote. Women's Equality Day 2012
August 26, 2012 will mark 92 years since the institution of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. In 1971, Congresswoman—and Hadassah Member—Bella Abzug championed the creation of Women's Equality Day to commemorate the amendment's institution. Every year since, Women's Equality Day has been officially recognized on August 26 by presidential proclamation. Date: 8/23/2012

Hadassah’s 2013 U.S. Supreme Court Swearing In With Hadassah Attorneys Council
Each year two dozen Hadassah Life Member and Associate attorneys are admitted to the United States Supreme Court Bar on motion of a Supreme Court Bar member of the Hadassah Attorneys Council. Seven Awards for Hadassah Magazine
Kol HaKavod to Hadassah Magazine Executive Editor Alan M. Tigay and his team. The magazine recently won seven Rockower Awards for excellence in Jewish journalism. The Rockowers are given annually by the American Jewish Press Association.

The seven prizes made Hadassah Magazine the biggest winner of any magazine. In two cases the magazine took both first and second place in the same category.
