NOAR Luncheon honoring Motherhood
On Sunday, October 27th 2013, the Noar of Newburgh Chapter of Hadassah held a very successful luncheon celebrating Motherhood. The monies raised at this event, went towards the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Mother & Child Center at Hadassah Hospital.
Rabbi Philip Weintraub. Of Congregation Agudas Israel, gave an impassioned invocation, to kick off the event.
The keynote speaker at the event was Mona Rieger. She is one of five generations of life members of Hadassah, and Mona spoke passionately of her own mother’s devotion to Hadassah. Mona’s mom, Bess Rothbaum, now 97, was the national treasurer of Hadassah for many years, and held many important volunteer positions at Hadassah during her lifetime.
An ensemble of performers from JUST OFF BROADWAY Theatre Company sang a beautiful medley of songs, which spoke of the relationship of children to their mothers, from a variety of shows including Gypsy and Fiddler on the Roof.
The fundraiser went to support the newly expanded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Hadassah Hospital which treats critically ill patients, newborn to age 16. Over $4000 was raised at the event, via admission costs, a commemorative journal and an auction.
