New Jersey US Senator Robert Menendez becomes Hadassah Associate
Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) joined 34,000 Hadassah Associates, men and boys who support the work of Hadassah, when he received the Myrtle Wreath Award for the Northern New Jersey Region of Hadassah. In his acceptance speech, the senator underscored the strategic importance of the United States to continue its support of Israel, the only real democracy in the Middle East.
The annual awards event took place at the Glenpointe Marriott in Teaneck where 280 Hadassah members and friends came to honor the senator and the chapter “Gems”, women who have made an outstanding contribution to one of the 27 chapters in the Northern New Jersey Region of Hadassah.
Founded in 1912 and about to celebrate its centennial year, Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, is the largest women’s, largest Zionist, and largest Jewish membership organization in the United States. In Israel, it supports pacesetting medical care and research, education and youth programs, and reforestation and parks projects.
