The Minneapolis Chapter of Hadassah was proud to install Debbie Slutsker as its new President. Debbie has held several important leadership positions in the last few years. She held Vice President positions in the Weizmann and Scopus groups, Membership and Fundraising VPs on the chapter level and initiated a number of outstanding programs, articles and kits as Membership Coordinator for the chapter and the Upper Midwest Region of Hadassah. Debbie joined Hadassah to get involved in the Jewish community and to meet other Jewish women. She has stayed because she truly believes in what Hadassah is and does in Israel and the United States. She enjoys working with so many interesting, passionate and intelligent women and feels a real sense of camaraderie and achievement.
Debbie grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her mother was a Hadassah member and her parents made her a life member in 1985. Debbie met her husband, Ilya, in the lobby of the Milwaukee Jewish Community Center. They were married in 1981 and moved to Minneapolis in 1984. Debbie has worked as at the Twin Cities Shriners Hospital for Children, a hospital for children with orthopedic needs, as a Social Worker for the past 22 years. Daughter Mandy is 24, lives in Washington, D.C., and works at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD while working towards her Masters in Global Public Health at George Washington University. Their 20 year old son, Ben is majoring in Business, Math & Economics at Emory University in Atlanta. He is doing an Actuarial Internship at the Hartford Insurance Company in Connecticut this summer.
We are looking forward to another successful and exciting year as Debbie Slutsker takes over as President of the Minneapolis Chapter of Hadassah.
