Director of Development, FL

Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, Inc., is looking for a Director of Development, FL, to initiate and support a program of individual Major Gifts across Florida and other assigned areas. In addition to managing the Major Gifts officers for the areas, the Director develops volunteer leadership involvement and works in tandem with targeted area volunteer leaders and all major gifts teams to identify and solicit prospective major donors, participates in developing prospect and donor cultivation and approach strategies, tracks all cultivation/solicitation activity, stewards current donors, and carries a portfolio of prospects and donors that includes agreed upon campaign, annual giving and planned giving performance goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

o Manages and mentors Florida professional development team, including supervision of team of Major Gifts professionals and administrative support staff
o Creates annual plan with benchmarks, and assists with annual budget and monitoring of monthly expenses
o Builds portfolio of major donor prospects and collaborates in design and production of financial, gift and donor profile reports
o Maintains effective communications with area and national volunteers and staff
o Prepares briefings and other written materials
o Provides regular updates to PledgeMaker in tracking prospect/donor contact and activity

Other Duties and Responsibilities as Required

Position Requirements

o Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 plus years of professional fund-raising experience, with strong management background, preferably in a complex, volunteer-driven organization with affiliates or chapters
o Proven track record in individual major gifts fundraising and capital campaigns and in direct solicitation of donors/prospects, as well as an understanding of family foundation solicitations
o Excellent interpersonal, verbal/presentation, and written communication skills, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
o Knowledge of national, regional and Florida philanthropic trends, and an understanding of the mission of Hadassah essential
o Familiarity with data base entry and ability to manage Moves Management process, and an understanding of fund-raising best practices
o Familiarity with planned giving vehicles
o Travel, evening and weekend work required, with ability to work independently from a home office
