Prof. Eyal Mishani was elected as Director at Large of the Society of Radiopharmaceutical Sciences (SRS). He will serve as one of only 5 members of the Society's executive.
Prof. Mishani (48) established Hadassah's Cyclotron Radiochemistry Unit, the only one of its kind in an Israeli hospital. A Cum Laude PhD in Organic Chemistry from Tel-Aviv University, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Washington University Medical School. He is also a member of the editorial board of two leading scientific magazines, and has won many awards and prizes for his scientific work.
The Hadassah Cyclotron Unit is a radiopharmaceutical center which functions within the Hadassah R&D Division in collaboration with the Department of Nuclear Medicine. Medical imaging has emerged as a potent method for diagnosing disease states and for monitoring treatments. Thus, the main objective of the Cyclotron Unit is to synthesize and produce new radio-labeled molecules for the diagnosis and evaluation of various disease states using PET imaging at Hadassah and other major PET centers around Israel. In addition, the Hadassah Cyclotron Unit is responsible for routinely producing known PET imaging tracer molecules on a daily basis due to their short half-lives
