"How lucky Hadassah is to have Leah Koenig, one of the rising stars in a new generation of Jewish food writers, compose this latest Hadassah cookbook…. The recipes Leah showcases in this cookbook are simple, delicious, good for us and attuned to our times." —Joan Nathan, from the Foreword

A celebration of fresh, innovative Jewish cooking, The Hadassah Everyday Cookbook: Daily Meals for the Contemporary Jewish Kitchen (Universe; March 2011) by Leah Koenig offers everything the Jewish cook needs to know to create simple, satisfying, and flavorful kosher meals for every day and special occasions.

With more than 160 recipes, the book spans the culinary globe, combining iconic American and Jewish tastes with Mexican, Italian, French, Asian, and Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine. Readers will find recipes that feel familiar to the Jewish palate, but are presented with a new interpretation, from "Granola with Tahini", "Smoked Salmon Scrambled Eggs", and "Israeli Caprese Salad" to "Miso Ginger Chicken", "Drunken Vegetable Chili", "Brownies with Pomegranate Whipped Cream", "Raspberry Cheesecake in a Jar", and many other satisfying creations. The book is packed with options for daily and meat meals, catering to vegetarians and omnivores alike.

Encouraging the use of local, organic, and seasonal ingredients when preparing menus, the book's eight chapters include: Breakfasts and Breads; Salads and Spreads; Sandwiches and Pizzas; Soups and Stews; Sides; Mains; Sweets; and Anytime Snacks. Gorgeous, full-color photography illustrates every page and, at the back of the book, readers will find a helpful section of Menu Ideas; Kosher Ingredient Sources; and an At-A-Glance Kashrut Index. Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, has an 80-year history of producing kosher cookbooks, and this latest release follows in that treasured tradition. Simply put, The Hadassah Everyday Cookbook is a must-have for any Jewish cook.
