Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, at its winter board meeting in West Palm Beach, Florida, approved a resolution reaffirming its commitment to and support for freedom of worship for all women at the Western Wall. The resolution reads as follows:
Hadassah, The Women's Zionist Organization of America, Inc. reaffirms its commitment to and support for freedom of worship for all women at the Western Wall and applauds Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request for the Jewish Agency for Israel to study and provide recommendations regarding prayer at the Kotel.
Hadassah reaffirms its longstanding commitment to the principles of women's equality, religious pluralism, and the preservation of Jewish unity—echoing Prime Minister Netanyahu's sentiments that the Kotel must be a source of cohesion for world Jewry, rather than of division.
As a member of the Jewish Agency Board of Governors, Hadassah looks forward to participating in this important effort and hopes that a resolution can be reached that will allow all women to pray, individually and collectively, at the Kotel freely, without harassment, and in accordance with their own religious practices.
