Good News From HMO: Tranplant Patients

On August 2nd we sent out a report about a marathon of organ transplantations which took place in the last few weeks. Two hearts, two livers and one kidney had been transplanted at the Hadassah hospital at Ein Kerem in the course of 48 hours.

Recently, we checked into the condition of our transplant patients and found out from Drs. Ehud Rudis and Hadar Merhav that all were doing well. Happily, we can report that all the patients had been released from the hospital and on the path to recovery. All were sent home.

Of the two heart patients, the mother of six from the Beit Shemesh area, had received a human heart, after having first received an artificial heart the year before. She returned home for Rosh Hashana. The male heart transplant patient was also sent home and he is able to go out of the house as well. These heart transplant patients come back every two weeks for follow-up examinations..

Our liver patients are also doing quite well. Our 24 year old patient from Tiberias has been sent home. After a five week hospitalization period, the 61 year old woman from Kiryat Arba was released to her home in excellent condition.

The kidney transplant patient aged 28 is also in excellent condition.

We hope that we continue to get good news about all these cases.
