Hadassah Applauds Today’s Announcement That Magen David Adom Soon to Be Admitted to International Committee for the Red Cross

(New York, NY -- October 31, 2005) -- Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, applauds today’s announcement from Jerusalem that Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s emergency services organization, will soon be admitted and granted its rightful status as a member of the International Committee for the Red Cross.

In a statement today, June Walker, National President of Hadassah, said: “We are very hopeful that the international diplomatic conference soon to be convened in Geneva, Switzerland will ratify Israel’s admittance to the International Committee for the Red Cross. Once this occurs, it will redress a wrong that has existed since Israel’s founding, and the last vestiges of Israel’s exclusion from the world health community will be erased.

“Friends of Israel, worldwide, owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the leadership of the American Red Cross and their steadfast support of Israel’s inclusion in the world body.”
