|HADASSAH NURSING MISSION, MARCH 20-28, 2008, CONNECTS AMERICAN AND ISRAELI NURSES
(New York, NY -- December 13, 2007) -- The opportunity to blend vocation with vacation, earn continuing education units (CEUs), and make lasting friendships is available to all professional nurses by visiting Israel with Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America.
“See Israel Through the Eyes of a Nurse,” March 20-28, 2008, is not only a learning experience, but a celebration sponsored by Hadassah’s National Center for Nurses’ Councils. Scheduled to take place during the festive Jewish holiday of Purim, the mission will celebrate Israel’s 60th anniversary and the 90th anniversary of the Henrietta Szold Hadassah-Hebrew University School of Nursing.
Among the professional highlights of the trip are meeting and dialoguing with Israeli colleagues in all nursing environments, including Israel’s major hospitals, like the tertiary-care Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, and the rural countryside, where nurse practitioners work on kibbutzim. Participants will have the opportunity to shadow an Israeli nurse in a chosen field and share an evening of hospitality at the home of a nursing counterpart.
There will be multiple opportunities to learn about nursing leadership in the Israeli healthcare system and academia. Participants will be encouraged to explore their own leadership style and gain professional strength from empowerment.
In addition, the mission will offer the opportunity to travel throughout the country, visiting historic sites from the Old City in Jerusalem to the Atlit Detention Center outside Haifa, where Jewish refugees who illegally ran the British blockade during the Mandatory period were imprisoned, to the cultural heritage sites of Tel Aviv, a city with the world’s heaviest concentration of “International Style” architecture.
