HADASSAH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION AWARDS CYNTHIA KRAMER THE HLA DISTINGUISHED ALMUMNA AWARD

(New York, NY -- July 30, 2007) -- Cynthia Kramer, of St. Louis, Missouri, was awarded the Hadassah Leadership Academy (HLA) Distinguished Alumna Award, the highest recognition the HLA Alumnae Association gives its members. The award was created to honor an HLA graduate who demonstrates leadership, service, and significant achievements that benefit Hadassah and the recipient’s local community. It was presented at the 93rd National Convention of Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, in New York, New York.

Since completing the HLA program, Cynthia has chaired projects for her chapter designed to engage others to join Hadassah and carry on its vital work. One such project was Israel Inspires, an innovative program aimed at school-aged children and their families that helped bring Hadassah’s work as a Zionist organization to the forefront of the local St. Louis community. Her chapter was awarded the inaugural IZAIA Award for this program.

Her passion for stem-cell research, which propelled the St. Louis Chapter into its role as a local leader in stem-cell advocacy, was recognized in 2005 when Cynthia was awarded the Hadassah National Leadership Award. Her latest project is creating a not-for-profit organization dedicated to education about, and support for, Missouri’s plant, animal, and life sciences.

Cynthia is a life member of Hadassah and graduate of the second HLA class.

The Hadassah Leadership Academy is a two-year program of Jewish study and leadership development training followed by a third year in which the participants conceptualize and implement a project designed to support Hadassah's mission and enhance the organization at the local level. The HLA Alumnae Association was established in 2004 to support the extraordinary cadre of trained leaders who graduated from the Hadassah Leadership Academy.
