Remembering Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass"
On the night of November 9 and the early morning hours of November 10, 1938, Nazis staged vicious, state-sanctioned anti-Jewish riots in Germany. Police and fire fighters stood by while Jewish cemeteries, hospitals, schools, community centers and homes were vandalized. 267 synagogues were burned or destroyed, 7,500 Jewish businesses were plundered, and at least 91 Jews were killed. 30,000 people were arrested and sent to concentration camps. Kristallnacht is often said to be the spark that ignited the Holocaust.
On Tuesday evening, November 9, JLTV will air a three-hour Remembrance Broadcast focusing on Kristallnacht.
