Hadassah awarded over $280,000 in scholarships for Young Judaea summer camps and Israel programs in June. The scholarships enabled some 270 children and young adults to participate in YJ programs.
68 teens attended Camp Tel Yehudah, Young Judaea's senior leadership camping facility located in Barryville, NY. Other recipients include 17 teens spending their summer in Israel on Machon or YJ Discovery, adventure-filled leadership opportunities, and 26 high school grads who will be spending next year in Israel on Year Course, the premier gap year program in Israel, including those on Shalem, a specialized track for orthodox young people. Another 6 Jewish young adults have been awarded scholarships to Young Judaea WUJS, a 5-month program of Jewish living and learning for college grads to age 35 that includes volunteer and professional internships in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Of the total monies awarded, $65,000 was allocated by the merchav (regional) scholarship committees that enabled 150 of these children to attend Young Judaea junior camps (ages 8-14) including Sprout Lake in Verbank NY, Camp Young Judaea Midwest in Waupaca, WI, and Camp Judaea in Hendersonville, NC.
Young Judaea ensures Jewish continuity through a broad range of activities. Young Judaeans have the opportunity to make a lasting personal connection with Israel, discover the joy of being Jewish and find new and enduring friendships.
