CONFERENCE OF PRESIDENTS EXPRESSES OUTRAGE AT TERROR ATTACKS IN JERUSALEM, MISSILES IN BE’ER SHEVA
CALLS UPON INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO HOLD PERPETRATORS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS ACCOUNTABLE
Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations Chairman Alan Solow and Executive Vice Chairman Malcolm Hoenlein expressed outrage at the attacks today in Jerusalem and Be’er Sheva, which have caused a death and numerous injuries.
“The bombing at a bus stop in the heart of Jerusalem and the launching of missiles into a population center in the city of Be’er Sheva once again underscores the need for Israel to take the necessary steps to protect its citizens against continuing terrorism. These are unprovoked attacks aimed at civilians going about their daily lives. We await the condemnation of the international community and public expressions of support for the people of Israel.
“We call for a clear condemnation by the United Nations, which is so quick to condemn Israel for taking the measures necessary to protect its citizens, and for it to hold the leadership both in Gaza and the West Bank accountable for the incitement to violence that continues unabated. Those who remain silent abet the perpetrators by seeming to excuse the murderers and barbaric attacks and by shifting the onus to Israel.
“There must be a price for such terror; there must be consequences for such actions. There is no shared responsibility here. This is pure unadulterated murderous terrorism and those who tolerate it, those who abet it, those who provide financing and weapons, must all be held to account by the international community. We especially look to the 14 members of the UN Security Council who so readily supported an unjustified condemnation of Israel several weeks ago to be heard now,” said Solow and Hoenlein.
“We express our condolences to the family of the victim and pray for a speedy recovery of all those injured, as well as for the safety and security of the people of Jerusalem, Be’er Sheva and all of Israel. We pray for a renewed determination of the international community to fight terrorism in all its manifestations,” the leaders said.
