Connecticut Region commemorated Hadassah's Centennial by honoring their Region's Nurse Volunteers at their Annual Awards Dinner on May 30. Over 75 guests, nurses and associates attended the celebration and honored 52 nurses with the Hadassah Centennial Award. Their biographies, which were presented in a PowerPoint slideshow, showed the diversity and depth of skill, training, compassion, accomplishment, and good works that their women, and one Associate, have given to the profession and to Hadassah.
In the featured presentation, Pennie Sessler Branden, National Co-Chair of the Nurses' Councils, and Deborah Broadley, a nurse practitioner, spoke beautifully and with passion about the past, present and future of nursing. The ensuing discussion showed a clear desire on the part of the nurses to meet again to address issues that affect nursing, healthcare and Hadassah.
Debra Kaye, a nurse and Region Recording Secretary, was instrumental in arranging the nurses' recognition. Sally Kleinman and Rhonna Rogol chaired the annual awards part of the event so that each chapter was publicly recognized for its unique strengths.
