Women of Distinction Honored in Florida Broward Region

Broward Hadassah’s Women of Distinction award winners include Roz Rosen, Jennifer Cohen, Pam Kirtman and Davia Mazur.

Florida Broward Region of Hadassah honored four women for their service to the community during a luncheon in Fort Lauderdale recently. Jennifer Cohen, Pam Kirtman, Davia Mazur and Roz Rosen received Broward Hadassah's Women of Distinction Award.

Cohen was recognized for raising money through The Sydney & Alexandria Cohen Foundation to purchase state-of-the-art incubators for the neonatal intensive care unit at Memorial Hospital West.

Kirtman received the Women of Distinction award for founding Becca's Closet, a nonprofit created to honor and continue her late daughter Rebecca's project of donating formal prom and homecoming dresses to high school girls with financial need.

Mazur, a local attorney, was recognized for her promotion of the cultural arts at the David Posnack Jewish Community Center. She served as chair of the Jewish Book Festival and later as vice president of cultural arts and programming. Mazur currently is chair of the cultural arts committee and co-chair of the gala committee.

Roz Rosen received the award for her service to Hadassah, serving as a past president of the Florida Broward Region and a National Vice-President.Roz said, "I think it's the highest possible award to be recognized by your peers."

"These are women of distinction in the community who made a difference," said Merna Shapiro, Florida Broward Region President. "They are women who believe in tikkun olam and gave an incredible amount of time in making our world a better place."
