We're Bursting with Pride:
Hadassah's Own Barbara "BG" Goldstein
Lights a Beacon of Hope on Mt. Herzl

Hadassah's Barbara Goldstein lit a beacon of hope on Mt. Herzl last week to mark the transition from the solemn Yom Hazicharon (Memorial Day) to the joyous Yom Ha'atzmaut (Independence Day.) Each year 12 individuals are honored on this occasion. She lit the beacon as part of Hadassah's yearlong celebration of its centennial, which will culminate in our Centennial Convention in Jerusalem in October 2012.

The Israeli National Anthem

The predominant theme in the Israeli National Anthem is the yearning for a homeland for the Jewish people, with the last stanza hoping for the establishment of a sovereign and free nation in the Land of Israel. Originally a poem by Naftalie Hertz Imber, it was later adopted as the anthem of the Zionist Movement and was declared the national anthem in 2004. Hadassah, a Zionist movement, joins in wishing Israel a Happy 63rd Birthday!

Terror and Emergency Preparedness at the Tower

The terror attack on a Jerusalem bus stop on March 23 provided a vivid illustration of the importance of the Hadassah Medical Organization and the new Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower to the Israeli people.

Lovely story and touching, I am grateful to God that you experienced the wonderful things that happen in Hadassah hospital, thank you for sharing your story.

I am a doctor in training from Kenya and i had the privilege of spending some time as a fifth year medical student in Hadassah's Neurosurgery department where i had the distinct privilege working with Dr Zvi Israel in his clinic and operating room. I can honestly say, with some bias, that he is easily one of the best surgeons you will ever come by. I greatly admire the work he has done and published on deep brain stimulation.

Having a multididciplinary center where the physicians come to the patients instead of having the patients run around to find the care they need is a great example of Hadassah's forethought and caring nature.
