Fighting Breast Cancer
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Ashkenazi Jews are ten times more likely to carry the BRCA gene—a risk factor for developing breast cancer at some point in their lifetime—than non-Jews. Israel has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the world. Here’s what we’re doing about it:
Hadassah, the city of Jerusalem, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® will sponsor the first-ever Susan G. Komen Israel Race for the Cure® around the walls of Old Jerusalem on October 28. You can run or support Hadassah Heelers runners from near or far.
