Ophir Shahaf, CEO of Hadasit Bio-Holdings, the technology transfer financing arm of the Hadassah University Medical Center, told BioTuesdays.com in an April 17 interview that Hadassah "accounts for 52% of applied biotech research in Israel, generating over 50 new patent families a year."

Youth Aliyah: Kids Helping Kids

Ramat Hadassah Szold senior students raised money for Elem, a non-profit group that helps Israeli and Arab children at risk. In collaboration with the Student Association of Oranim College, the Aliyah youngsters made chocolate candies and sold them on the college campus. According to Meir Abekasis, the Youth Aliyah counselor who led the project, "The idea was to create cooperation with the community, and to teach our students that they have a lot to give. The students' motivation and drive was outstanding; they raised almost $400." Daniel, one of the students, reported, "It's great satisfaction to help someone who needs you. It makes me want to help even more."
