Israel's Leaders Honor Us

Israel's leadership will be with us at our Centennial Convention in Jerusalem. Their recognition of Hadassah's accomplishments over the last century, and our ongoing commitment to the health and well being of Israel, honors us.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat will personally welcome us at the start of our Convention in Safra Square. President Shimon Peres will be the keynote speaker when we dedicate the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower in Ein Kerem, our gift to the people of Israel in honor of our Centennial. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will receive the Henrietta Szold award at our Gala, as other heads of state have in the past. Their presence will be a tribute to each of us, and all of us, as we embark on our second century. We hope you will be there, too.

"Our beloved Barbara Goldstein was with us last night to represent Hadassah and to celebrate the 89th graduation ceremony for this year's 12th grade class. Among our graduates are first generation Israeli's, many of them the first in their families to finish high school, from throughout the country including Druze, Muslims, Russians, Ethiopians, Americans and refugees from Eritrea and Nigeria who came to Shfeyah 3 years ago.

Thank you to Hadassah for your friendship and partnership for 89 years ! With love from the children at the Hadassah / Meir Shfeyah Youth Village . This is a short clip which was part of the evening's ceremonies."

Visiting Israel: A Life Changer

Five years ago, Brenda Korff of Great Neck, NY, left her two children home with her husband and visited Israel for the first time on a Hadassah Young Leaders Mission. The group arrived from Poland, which was "damp, depressing, dreary." When they stepped off the plane in Israel, she says, the sun was shining and a beautiful feeling came over her. It has never left. Brenda says she always felt a connection to Israel and Hadassah, but the trip changed her life. "I could see, smell and feel Israel. Now I am a part of Israel. We are part of Israel." Experiencing the hospitals and meeting some of the youth we serve first-hand "makes everything you do with Hadassah—building with your hands, words and money—worthwhile."
