Hundreds of Physicians and Researchers Attend International Conference on Hair Chaired By Hadassah Dermatologist

Hundreds of heath professionals and scientists from over 30 countries participated in the European Hair Research Society's conference in Jerusalem in July, exploring innovative treatments for chronic diseases and sharing the latest developments in tackling various hair disorders. Prof. Abraham Zlotogorsky, Director of Hadassah's Hair Clinic and Laboratory of Genetic Diseases of the Hair and Skin, chaired the Conference.

"In recent years," reports Prof. Zlotogorsky, "there has been significant progress in our understanding of the processes taking place in our hair, and of the factors that affect hair growth and hair loss." This conference, Prof. Zlotogorsky related, "was the Western world's largest medical and scientific conference on hair to date." The international advisory committee included hair researchers and dermatologists from Australia, Austria, China, France, India, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Prof. Zlotogorsky explains that whereas before hair problems were the turf of hair salons and pharmacies, in the past two decades hair has become a leading subject in medicine and molecular biology.
