U.S. Senior Law Enforcement Officials Witness Hadassah’s Trauma Facility

Senior law enforcement officials from the United States visited the Hadassah University Medical Center's Judy and Sidney Swartz Center for Emergency Medicine to learn about Hadassah's Shock Trauma Unit and emergency preparedness initiatives.

Prof. Avi Rivkind, head of the Unit and Hadassah's Department of General Surgery, briefed the delegation about the innovative protocols Hadassah employs to treat victims of terror attacks and mass casualty events. For example, he explained that Hadassah supplies ambulances with digital cameras so that surgeons will have a better understanding of the accident site and the resulting injuries the patients sustained. Sponsored by the Israel Office of the Anti-Defamation League, the mission was coordinated by Hadassah's Influentials to Israel Program.
