Hadassah has been a thread running through my entire adult life. It has helped me make wonderful friends, it has strengthened my love for Israel and it has made me proud of my heritage.
I have belonged to three different chapters of Hadassah in the many years I have been a Life Member. I have always been an active Board Member.
After my husband's funeral, many years ago, the house was full of people. I was introducing one friend to another, identifying her as a Past President of my previous chapter, when I realized that every woman present that day in my house was a friend I had made through Hadassah.
My late husband used to go to Temple on Shabbat. I did not go with him. I did not know to read Hebrew; the service was not familiar and it was boring.
I heard that Hadassah had a program that teaches women Hebrew, prayers and guides them to become Eish Mitzvah. It is called "Ivrit la Hadassah".
I joined a group. We started studying. I learned so much and developed such a bond with my group that today, after 8 years we still meet every week to study together. We have become best friends.
In the meantime, I met a wonderful man; he also went to synagogue on Shabbat. It was important to him that I share this part of his life with him.
Thanks to "Ivrit la Hadassah" I was ready!
We have been married for 4 years; I go with him to Temple every Shabbat; I enjoy the service, I have become active in the Synagogue and feel part of it.
I have received so many blessings in my life through Hadassah!
Thank you, Hadassah!
