80 years with Hadassah and looking forward to more
|Anne Lee Weiner|
As I write this, I am planning my trip to Jerusalem for the 100th Anniversary Celebration and I reflect how Hadassah has guided my life.
Born into an active Zionist family in Malden, Mass in 1932 shaped my life and led me on a path of loving Hadassah, encouraging love and support of Tzedakah, Israel and Jewish Education through Y J.
During my visit to Meir Shfeyah in 1957 as New England President of Jr. Hadassah, I was so proud of the care and education given to the children. The nachus I felt continued when I visited again in 2008 on a Hadassah Mission and again in 2011 with Winter in Natanya .
The enriching experience attending the Miriam Freud Education Program in Neve Ilon in 1995 expanded my knowledge of the history, culture and government of Israel. It was exciting to bring this information to my Peabody Mass Chapter as President.
"Come back as an Ambassador" The slogan for Winter in Natanya.
Participants gave daily practice sessions teaching English to students ages 6-17. Upon returning, I have presented WIN programs to chapters in Florida Atlantic Region.
I have used my experiences in Hadassah to inspire people of all ages to join Hadassah, donate money, volunteer time, support Jewish causes in Israel and throughout the world.
Looking forward to the experience of the 100th Anniversary Celebration, celebrating my 80th birthday in Jerusalem 2012 and continuing my work, providing inspiration and education on behalf of Hadassah.
