|24,000 new lifetime memberships have raised more than $2 million|
NEW YORK – Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, today announced that since January 1, national lifetime membership has increased by over 29,000 people, thanks to Hadassah’s Centennial Campaign. Hadassah launched the special campaign in January in honor of its yearlong celebration of the 100th anniversary of Hadassah’s founding. This year only, Centennial Life Memberships are available for $100 as compared to the regular $360 for lifetime memberships or $36 per year for annual, renewable memberships.
“After only four months, we had met and surpassed our goal for the entire year – 20,000 new life memberships,” said Hadassah National President Nancy Falchuk. “Across the country, we have generated thousands of new, first-time memberships, as well as encouraged current yearly members to become lifelong Hadassah members.”
The increase in membership has raised more than $2 million from 22,099 life memberships and 1,924 associate enrollments for Hadassah. Combined with annual memberships for 2011, total membership fundraising comes to more than $2.1 million.
Statewide, Florida has seen the largest growth in membership, followed by New York, New Jersey, California and Pennsylvania. Regionally, the Florida Atlantic Region, which comprises 70 chapters between Vero Beach and Boca Raton, has had the largest increase in membership, adding more than 4,000 so far this year to its previous membership of 19,000.
“We have really promoted the membership drive at our meetings, and we mentor our chapter leaders in generating a lot of excitement locally, so they then encourage their friends, sisters, children and grandchildren to become life members as well,” said Florida Atlantic Region President Carol Weiss of Boynton Beach. “We engage in consistent and very frequent outreach to our chapters. We email our members almost daily, we keep them updated on what’s new and what’s happening. We have a very unique region and are thrilled about the upcoming centennial celebration in Jerusalem.”Date: 5/24/2011 12:00:00 AM
